To strengthen and expand our presence in the African market, it has been decided after careful consideration to send Li Dongming and Zhang Peng from Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd. to Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi on April 17, 2023, to discuss business opportunities. They are expected to stay abroad for approximately 90 days.
Our company has been exporting agricultural tools to Africa since the 1950s. The company’s three flagship trademarks—“Rooster,” “Diamond,” and “Swallow”—have been recognized as “Famous Trademarks of Tianjin Municipality,” “Well-Known International Brands in Tianjin,” and “Key Export Brands Prioritized for Development in Tianjin.” These renowned brands have helped our agricultural tool products enjoy strong sales across the African continent, generating annual export revenues exceeding tens of millions of U.S. dollars and contributing significantly to our company’s robust economic performance. During this recent business trip, we conducted on-site inspections to assess the market conditions and competitive landscape of our agricultural tools in Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi. By visiting local customers and engaging in direct, face-to-face discussions, we gathered invaluable firsthand insights. This information will enable us to develop tailored marketing strategies and product enhancement initiatives, further strengthening our position and expanding the reach and market share of our agricultural tools in the African region.
In 1995, in line with our strategic plan, our company established a subsidiary in Uganda—Tianjin Machinery Uganda Co., Ltd.—to operate a warehouse-style business locally. This visit was aimed at showing our appreciation to the employees of Tianjin Machinery Uganda Co., Ltd., who remained steadfast in their roles throughout the three-year pandemic period. We also took the opportunity to assess how the company’s agricultural tool products are performing in the Ugandan market and monitor any shifts among our competitors. Additionally, we conducted a thorough review of the company’s sales performance over recent years, meticulously organizing data on both incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as conducting a detailed inventory count. Finally, we dedicated time to personally visit all of the company’s customers in Uganda, actively listening to their feedback and suggestions—gathering invaluable insights that will help us enhance our service quality and product offerings.
In addition to agricultural tools, our company has been deeply engaged in the African market. In October 2021, we successfully won the bid for the medical equipment supply project at Zambia’s King’s Hospital, which officially kicked off this year and is expected to run for approximately two years. This visit aims to conduct business and technical discussions with WAH KONG Enterprises Limited, the general contractor for the King’s Hospital project in Zambia, to address any outstanding issues and ensure smooth project execution by removing potential obstacles.
Simultaneously visit Burundian clients to secure more contracts. Also, reach out to Burundian customers with whom we’ve lost contact, aiming to resume business relationships.
The expenses related to the delegation will be borne by Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd. and have already been included in the company's budget for official temporary overseas (or border-crossing) travel this year, totaling approximately 375,592 yuan.
