To strengthen and expand our business presence in the African market, it has been decided after careful consideration to send Zhiyi Zuo and Qinghua Ruan from Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd. to Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi on April 17, 2023, to discuss business opportunities. They are expected to stay abroad for approximately 20 days.
Our company has been exporting agricultural tools to Africa since the 1950s. The company’s three flagship trademarks—“Rooster,” “Diamond,” and “Swallow”—have been recognized as “Famous Trademarks of Tianjin Municipality,” “Well-Known International Brands in Tianjin,” and “Key Export Brands Being Cultivated and Developed in Tianjin.” These renowned brands have helped our agricultural tools achieve strong sales across the African continent, generating annual export revenues exceeding tens of millions of U.S. dollars and contributing significantly to our company’s robust economic performance. During this recent business trip, we conducted an on-site inspection of how our agricultural tool products are performing in Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi, while also analyzing the competitive landscape in these markets. By visiting local customers and engaging in direct, face-to-face discussions, we gathered invaluable firsthand insights. This information will enable us to develop tailored marketing strategies and product enhancement initiatives, further strengthening our position and expanding our market share for agricultural tools in the African region.
In 1995, in line with our strategic plan, our company established a subsidiary—Tianjin Machinery Uganda—in Uganda, where we now operate a warehouse-style business. This visit is aimed at showing our appreciation to the employees of Tianjin Machinery Uganda who remained steadfast in their roles throughout the three-year pandemic period. We’ll also assess how our agricultural equipment products are performing in the Ugandan market and keep an eye on any shifts among our competitors. Additionally, we’ll conduct a thorough review of the company’s sales performance over recent years, meticulously organizing data on incoming and outgoing shipments as well as inventory counts. Finally, we’ll take time to personally visit each of our Ugandan clients, gathering their valuable feedback and suggestions firsthand—information that will directly inform our efforts to enhance both service quality and product excellence.
In addition to agricultural tools, our company has been deeply engaged in the African market. In October 2021, we successfully won the bid for the medical equipment supply project at Zambia’s King’s Hospital, which officially kicked off this year and is expected to run for approximately two years. This visit aims to conduct business and technical discussions with WAH KONG Enterprises Limited, the general contractor for the King’s Hospital project in Zambia, to address any outstanding issues and ensure smooth project execution, thereby removing potential obstacles along the way.
Simultaneously visit Burundian clients to secure more contracts. Also, reach out to Burundian customers with whom we’ve lost contact, aiming to rekindle business relationships.
The expenses related to the delegation members will be borne by Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd., and have already been included in the company’s current-year budget for official temporary overseas (or border-crossing) travel expenses, totaling approximately RMB 102,832. Our company has publicly announced, via the internal intranet, details of the business negotiation mission group led by Comrades Zuo Zhiyi and Ruan Qinghua, who will travel to Uganda, Zambia, and Burundi from February 13 to February 21, 2023. The announcement period lasted seven working days.
