Zhang Peng's Overseas Public Announcement – Departing for Uganda

2023-07-31

To strengthen and expand our business presence in the African market, after careful consideration, it has been decided to send Comrade Zhang Peng from Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of our group, to Uganda on August 19, 2023, to discuss business opportunities. He is expected to stay abroad for 365 days and will apply for a one-year multiple-entry visa.

Our company has been exporting agricultural tools to Africa since the 1950s. The company’s three flagship trademarks—“Rooster,” “Diamond,” and “Swallow”—have been recognized as “Famous Trademarks of Tianjin City,” “Well-known International Brands of Tianjin,” and “Key Export Brands Being Cultivated and Developed in Tianjin.” These renowned brands ensure that our agricultural tool products remain bestsellers across the African continent, generating annual export revenues exceeding tens of millions of U.S. dollars and contributing significantly to our company’s strong economic performance. In 1995, aligned with our strategic business plan, we took a further step by establishing a subsidiary in Uganda—Tianjin Machinery Uganda Co., Ltd.—to spearhead warehouse-style operations locally.

From May 27 to August 18, 2023, after visiting Uganda, I took charge of the day-to-day operations of Tianjin Machinery Uganda Company. This involved visiting local customers, engaging in face-to-face communication, and developing tailored marketing strategies and product improvement initiatives. These efforts aim to further strengthen and expand our agricultural equipment products' presence and market share in the African region. Currently, the Ugandan market is experiencing its peak season for agricultural tool sales. Following a company-wide assessment, we’ve determined that Tianjin Machinery Uganda urgently needs additional permanent staff. Moreover, due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, the company has already faced staffing shortages in Uganda. To address this issue, we’ve decided to retain Zhang Peng, our experienced senior sales representative, at the Ugandan office after he completes his recent African business trip. His role will help alleviate the current operational challenges caused by insufficient personnel. In addition to managing daily business activities, the resident staff member will proactively visit all key clients in Uganda, gathering their valuable feedback and insights. This firsthand information will be crucial for enhancing our service quality and refining product offerings. It’s worth noting that Uganda’s agricultural tool business follows a seasonal pattern, with distinct peaks and troughs throughout the year. To ensure sustained support for the company’s operations, we’re requesting approval for the resident employee to remain in Uganda for at least one full year, along with multiple entry permits to facilitate frequent travel between China and Uganda as needed.

The expenses related to the delegation members will be covered by Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd. and have already been included in the company's current-year budget for temporary official overseas (or border-crossing) travel expenses, totaling approximately 40,000 yuan.
