Zhang Peng's Overseas Announcement – Traveling to Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda

2024-07-22

To strengthen and expand our business presence in the African market, after careful consideration, it has been decided to send Comrade Zhang Peng from Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of our group, to Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda on August 30, 2024, to discuss business opportunities. He is expected to stay abroad for 365 days and will apply for a one-year multiple-entry visa with multiple entries permitted into Uganda.

Our company has been exporting agricultural tools to Africa since the 1950s. The company’s three flagship trademarks—“Rooster,” “Diamond,” and “Swallow”—have been recognized as “Famous Trademarks of Tianjin City,” “Well-Known International Brands of Tianjin,” and “Key Export Brands of Tianjin City Under Development.” These renowned brands ensure that our agricultural tool products remain bestsellers across the African continent, generating annual export revenues exceeding tens of millions of U.S. dollars and contributing significantly to our company’s strong economic performance. In 1995, in line with our strategic business plan, we took a further step by establishing a subsidiary in Uganda—Tianjin Machinery Uganda Company—which now operates locally under a warehouse-style business model.

This visit aims to expand our business into the East African market, conducting on-site assessments of our agricultural tool products' performance and analyzing competitor activities in the region. By meeting with local customers and engaging in face-to-face discussions, we’ll gather firsthand insights to develop tailored marketing strategies and product enhancement initiatives. This will help us strengthen and broaden the sales volume and market share of our agricultural tools across Africa. We will also fully leverage the role of our Uganda-based subsidiary as a strategic African foothold, capitalizing on its established presence to tap into neighboring countries’ agricultural markets. Specifically, we’ll engage with key customers in traditional markets such as Tanzania and Rwanda, gathering critical market intelligence that will serve as a solid foundation for shaping our company’s overall sales strategy.

After completing his report-back trip to China and enjoying his vacation, Comrade Zhang Peng has returned to his permanent post in Uganda. As part of their daily operations, resident staff are encouraged to visit all of the Ugandan company’s major clients, carefully listening to their feedback and suggestions. This will provide valuable firsthand insights that can help the company enhance its service quality and improve product offerings.

At the same time, I visited Tanzanian clients to gain insights into our product sales and market competition, enabling us to formulate the next steps in our sales strategy and further strengthen and expand our product market share. Additionally, I met with Rwandan customers to assess the local competitive landscape and identify the reasons behind the market decline, while collaborating with them to develop new sales strategies aimed at restoring and solidifying our existing market position.

Given the seasonal nature of Uganda's agricultural tool business, and considering overall cost efficiency, the resident staff member should ideally complete at least one full year of on-site work. Additionally, leveraging the convenience of being based in Uganda, they could take advantage of opportunities to visit nearby customers in Tanzania and Rwanda. Therefore, we are applying for approval to travel to Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda for this mission, with plans for multiple round-trip visits within the year, including frequent entries into Uganda.

The expenses related to the delegation will be borne by Tianjin Machinery Import & Export Co., Ltd. These costs have already been included in the company's current-year budget for temporary official overseas (or border-crossing) travel, with an estimated expense of approximately 45,570 yuan per person.
